Women’s football meets cultural dialogue

Kick it! – International Women’s Football Camp enters the next round

After an impressing start of the project in 2008, eurient e.V. prepares for the big sequel: In 2009, from August 3rd till 15th, 30 young female football players will again join “Kick it! – the International women’s football camp” in Leipzig. During their stay in Leipzig, the young women from Algeria, Jordan, Palestine, Bulgaria, Malta and Germany will not only train their football skills but also their cross-cultural competence.

Besides joint football trainings there will be guided city tours, movie nights, and other exciting events organized by local partners. Public highlight of the football camp will be on August 14th, when the participants will present themselves to the Leipzig audience. There they will demonstrate their professional football skills in the final tournament, playing against local women's football teams.

This year, the visit of the Palestine team raises a contentious issue. Despite careful planning, it can't be said with certainty, whether the women football players will be able to arrive on time, due to the tense situation in this region. However, leading project manager and eurient e.V. member Franziska Zezulka is sure that all participants will arrive in Leipzig safe and sound: “The last days before the beginning of the football camp are going to be thrilling. But we are confident that Kick it!, just as last year, will be a great success for all parties.
